Rachel & Lewis | Pre-Wedding Shoot at Mainsgill Farm, Richmond
Sometimes the weather has other plans.
We'd been trying to get together for their pre-wedding shoot for a while — and even the day before hadn't been ideal — but with three days to go until the wedding, Rachel and Lewis and I knew we just had to make it happen. Wild wind gusts and all.
And honestly? I'm so glad we did.
We spent time up at Mainsgill Farm near Richmond — the very place they'd be celebrating their wedding a few days later — and it couldn't have been more perfect. Rolling North Yorkshire Dales views stretching out behind them, long grass, pine trees, late afternoon light filtering through the fields. The kind of backdrop that does half the work for you.
We chatted through all the important timings for the big day — the group shots, the flow of the evening, the moments that matter most to them — and then I got them in front of the camera and did what I always do: guided them gently until they forgot I was there. Which, with Rachel and Lewis, didn't take long at all. That laugh of Rachel's is completely infectious. Lewis didn't stand a chance.
This is exactly what the pre-wedding shoot is for. It's not about the photographs — that's just a bonus. It's about knowing each other, knowing the space, knowing that by the time Saturday arrives there won't be a single nervous moment in front of the camera. Just the two of them, exactly as they are.
And these two? They were ready.
