On The Day

Why Every Package Includes a Pre-Wedding Shoot

All Wedding Packages reserved with me come with a pre-wedding shoot—an experience you might be curious about. Some couples wonder, "Do I really need this? Can I opt out for a discount?" You know, planning anything without a solid game plan isn't really my style, just as you wouldn't want that for your big day!

You don't have to have one, but ultimately the pre-wedding shoot is not about the photographs- that’s just a bonus- it’s me getting to know you. I learn what makes you laugh, we find something to reminisce about on the wedding day, we walk around the venue and plan how the day will run.

What locations will we use? What time will the group shots start? How long before dinner starts?

These little details are CRITICAL for the day to run as perfectly as you can imagine. We will then take a little walk and shoot some images, very relaxed and informal. I will guide you all the way and then by the time your big day arrives you are already going to know exactly what you are doing and the Photographs then seem to be the easy bit! Children and animals encouraged. This usually happens about a month or so before your big day.

Your Questions, Answered

  • There is no set number I can’t possibly say you will receive ‘this’ amount of images. Each wedding is so different and each package is different.

I tend to shoot around 1500 frames for me to work with, to then go through and give you a final selection of around 450-500 images to tell your story.

Some people worry they will lose images, but rest assured you will not ever lose images you will just see the VERY BEST of each moment. For example the family formals, I would maybe take around 15 you would only get the one shot presented to you. That leaves room for all the blinkers to be removed.

  • It has not happened to me yet! but just in case I carry 2 camera bodies with me to each wedding. My main camera is a Nikon Z7 Mk II, with my D750 being my back up camera. 3 lenses, 4 batteries, a million cards!

You only do this once I want to be sure we are ready for every possibility. I also have Public Liability Insurance, just because - you never know!

  • No problem, as long as this is discussed at booking, each additional hour is charged at £150.

  • You and your partner may wish to discuss how you feel about photos appearing on social media before your evening guests arrive. Do you want to be the first to post any images?

Ask the registrar to request this, or be really prepared and print it on your invites. Also worth thinking about is to ask your guests not to take photos as you walk down the aisle as they can lean in and cover you completely, spoiling what should be a memorable professional shot.

You are paying me to be there, let me do the very best for you.

  • Sometimes photographers forget and use terminology such as image ‘editing’ which means what?

Your final wedding images are enhanced for skin softening, lightening, colour- I often joke to brides about that spot that appears on the big day, not to worry it wont be seen on any final images.

I always try and get it right first time in the camera but sometimes this cannot be helped so here is when my photoshopping skills are put to test.

  • Your images are generally ready 3-4 weeks after your big day. If your package includes an album, you can either have full control of the design, or let me take control - either way you will be sent proofs before ordering for print.

I suggest couples send me around 30 must haves in the album and then I would design the rest of the album around these.

Once sent for print they take approx. 4-5 weeks to produce at the lab here in the UK.
