Rachel & Lewis | Mainsgill Farm Wedding, Richmond, North Yorkshire
My cheeks hurt on the drive home.
That's how you know it was a good one. Rachel and Lewis's wedding at Mainsgill Farm near Richmond was one of those days where the joy is just completely contagious — from the moment Rachel was laughing her way into her earrings during bridal prep, right through to the first dance under those gorgeous rattan lanterns in the marquee.
Getting ready at the family house felt so grounded and real. Rachel at the window, laughing — always laughing. The little flower girl clutching that enormous bouquet of blue hydrangeas and white roses with the most serious expression on her tiny face.
The ceremony was at St Peter & St Felix Church, Kirkby Hill, near Richmond — a really special family church, and it showed. The church entrance was absolutely covered in a gorgeous arch of greenery, hydrangeas, and roses, and when Rachel and Lewis emerged through it into that confetti storm of blue and white, I honestly could not have planned a better shot if I'd tried.
And then — the wedding transport. Because this is Mainsgill and nothing is done by halves. A John Deere tractor and a glass-sided trailer, ribbon-tied, trundling through the North Yorkshire fields to bring the newlyweds home. I was there waiting, naturally. Wouldn't have missed it.
The marquee at Mainsgill was one of the most beautifully dressed I've seen — rattan pendant lights hanging from the beams, trailing greenery, tall blue and white floral centrepieces, the dales visible through the clear sides. It looked incredible.
This is my second wedding with this wonderful family, which makes it even more special. I know what they're like — warm, funny, genuine — and this day was every bit of that.
The wind was wild (it really was, sorry Rachel), but nobody cared even slightly. A then the Donkey, Bracken arrived as a surprise! Honestly, that shot might be one of my favourites of the whole year. Rachel, sat with her childhood friend in that amazing wedding dress, absolutely delighted.
Rachel and Lewis — Mr and Mrs Rodgers — thank you so much. Congratulations. 🥂
(Before the big day, Rachel and Lewis visited Mainsgill for their pre-wedding shoot — you can read about that here.)
