Poppy & Charlie | Pre-Wedding Shoot

Yesterday I got to spend the morning with the lovely Poppy and Charlie, who are saying "I do" next week — and honestly, the excitement coming off these two was infectious.

There's a really nice story behind how they found me, actually. Poppy and Charlie discovered their wedding venue through photos I'd shared from a previous wedding I'd photographed there. Without that little glimpse on social media, they might never have found the place at all. It's moments like that which remind me why I love sharing real weddings online — you genuinely never know who's looking, or what it might lead to.

We spent the session walking the lanes near their home, talking through their wedding day timings, and I shared a few tips for the big day itself before easing them gently in front of the camera. They had brilliant company too — their dogs Merlot and Brie came along for the walk, and I will openly admit I would have smuggled both of them home in my camera bag given half a chance.

Poppy and Charlie didn't need much encouragement at all, which is honestly the dream for a session like this. That's the thing about natural, documentary-style wedding photography — it was never about achieving a "perfect" pose. It's about creating a relaxed space, offering a little gentle guidance, and then just letting two people who love each other be themselves. These two made it look easy. Walking hand in hand down the lane, stealing glances, getting thoroughly distracted by their dogs mid-shot — every frame felt completely natural.

I cannot wait to see you both in your wedding finery next week. It's going to be such a special day, and I feel very lucky to be the one capturing it.

If you're getting married in North Yorkshire and fancy a relaxed, natural approach to your wedding photography (dogs welcome) — get in touch here, I'd love to hear from you.
