Wedding in The Durham & Tanfield Suite | South Causey Inn

By Claire Hirst Photography

Ahhh, the best couples really do come from recommendations 🤍
I first met Ellie & Jordan while photographing one of their friends’ weddings, so I was truly honoured when they asked me to be part of their own big day at South Causey Inn, one of County Durham’s most loved wedding venues.

Their wedding took place across The Durham & Tanfield Suite at South Causey Inn, a beautiful setting that blends rustic charm with elegant, light-filled spaces, perfect for relaxed, story-driven wedding photography.

The Durham Suite at South Causey Inn is a converted stone stable block, full of character and flooded with natural light from its floor-to-ceiling windows and skylights. It offers a stunning space for wedding receptions, speeches, and evening celebrations.

Adjoining the Durham Suite is the Tanfield Suite, a gorgeous ceremony room with a romantic, intimate feel, the perfect place to say “I do” before moving seamlessly into the celebrations next door.

Ellie got ready at home with her bride tribe, all ten of them! Creating such a fun, relaxed atmosphere to start the day. Once ready, Ellie travelled to South Causey Inn in a smart vintage car, arriving perfectly on time for the ceremony to begin.

Jordan waited for Ellie at the end of the aisle, and as Ellie was beautifully escorted by her mum, there truly wasn’t a dry eye in the room. The ceremony had the perfect balance of emotion and joy, sealed with the exchange of rings and an emotional first kiss as husband and wife.

Confetti, Candid Moments & Celebrations

Following the ceremony, we headed outside for a joyful confetti moment in the gardens near The Farmhouse at South Causey Inn, Ellie & Jordan beaming with that “we did it!” feeling.

After family formals, I stepped back and let the day unfold naturally, capturing candid moments as guests laughed, chatted, and congratulated Mr & Mrs Lindsay.

Speeches took place in the beautifully styled Durham Suite, decorated with impressive pampas grasses and a timeless black-and-white theme that came together perfectly.

Mila absolutely stole the show with her witty, cheeky speech, at just seven years old, she completely won my heart and had everyone smiling from ear to ear.

Golden Hour Portraits at South Causey Inn

Timed to perfection, we headed out to the gardens and surrounding fields of South Causey Inn for golden hour portraits. The sun sat in the perfect sweet spot, giving us soft, flattering light and the most relaxed, natural images of Ellie & Jordan.

No stiff posing, just gentle prompts and letting them be themselves on their wedding day.
