Alice & Andrew | Healey Barn Wedding Photography | Northumberland
It had been a while since I last photographed at Healey Barn. Years, actually. And within about ten minutes of arriving, I remembered exactly why it holds such a special place.
There's something about that venue. The ancient stone walls, the vaulted oak beams, the candlelit atmosphere even in the middle of the day. It's the kind of place that does half the work for you — and the team there were absolute superstars from start to finish.
We split the morning between two locations — the boys getting ready over at the beautiful Slaley Hall, and the girls in the most gorgeous cottages close to Healey. Two completely different moods, both completely brilliant. Andrew by the window, quietly composed. Alice under the skylight in that stunning off-the-shoulder gown, a picture of calm. Wedding mornings have their own particular magic, and this one had it in spades.
The ceremony itself was held at Healey Barn— honestly one of the most atmospheric ceremony spaces I've ever worked in. And then there was Andrew. Standing at the front, waiting, holding himself together... and then absolutely not holding himself together the moment Alice appeared.
That shot of him wiping his eyes before she even reached him is one of those frames you just live for as a photographer.
And then — if that wasn't enough — they signed the register with their beautiful baby Archie between them. Just the three of them, already a family, making it official.
The afternoon was everything a reception should be. Sun in the gardens, Cripps & Co doing what they do best with canopés and prosecco, guests sprawled happily across the grounds, that easy joy that fills a day when everything just feels right. We slipped away into the pine trees for couple portraits and came back with some of my favourite images of the year.
