Hayden & Charlotte | Runa Farm Wedding, North Yorkshire
Hayden and Charlotte — I have to be honest with you both, this day absolutely got me. My cheeks were aching by the time I drove home and I'm not even slightly sorry about it.
Some of you might know that I first met Charlotte when I photographed a leavers ball, years and years ago. And well how special here I am again. I love it when it works out like that. Forever grateful doesn't even cover it.
The venue was Runa Farm, and if you haven't come across it yet — stop what you're doing and go and look it up. It's a beautifully unique wedding venue set in a secluded spot in County Durham, brought to life by the same people behind Newton Hall and The Croft . The concept is natural luxury — relaxed Spanish and Balearic influences woven through an honest, organic farming setting — and it is absolutely stunning to photograph. Exposed stone, warm plaster walls, that iconic charm around every corner. Every single frame had something going on.
Charlotte got ready on-site, and the bridal prep light was just gorgeous — dark, moody walls and the most beautiful window light. Her gown from Beautiful Day Bridal was stunning, with that elegant neckline and a cathedral veil that absolutely owned the steps outside the Smithy. The bouquet was a dream too — deep green roses mixed with white blooms and eucalyptus, tying the whole colour palette together perfectly.
The bridesmaids were all in forest green, carrying gypsophila ‘Babys Breath’ — simple, soft, completely beautiful — and then there was Maeve the flower girl, who almost stole the show.
The ceremony took place in the Runa Farm Chapel — and if you've never seen it, it has this extraordinary ornate tented ceiling, smooth polished stone walls, and shimmering lanterns that make the whole space feel genuinely ethereal. Charlotte made her entrance down the statement staircase through the secret bride's entrance and I honestly nearly lost it. Then confetti. So much confetti. That first kiss shot with the petals absolutely everywhere is one of those images I'll be keeping for a very long time.
Now. I do need to address one thing. Yes, I may have briefly been in possession of the engagement ring for the whole day…. In my defence, I was just helping and I gave it straight back. Probably. (I definitely did.) The next day.
Hayden and Charlotte also had their two dogs along for the day — a wonderfully squishy bulldog and a very opinionated miniature schnauzer in a teal harness, both chaperoned by the brilliant Chuck Tails — and they were honestly some of the best guests there. The groom getting a face full of schnauzer mid-kiss might be my favourite frame of 2026 so far.
The rest of the day in the Old Barn was everything you'd want — passion fruit martinis lined up on the bar, bridesmaids speeches that had Charlotte hiding behind her hands, and Nadia on violin adding something genuinely special to the evening. Just the most lovely crowd of people.
Hayden and Charlotte — thank you for having me. What an absolute joy of a day. Congratulations, you two. 🤍
